You can contact our office as soon as possible if you loose or break any of your appliances. By calling us, Our dentist, Dr.K will be able to create time to see you; please do not come directly to the office. If you need any appliance repaired. Contact our office as soon as possible even if you have a regular appointment scheduled. If you need instant medical attention, always feel comfortable in dialing 911.

Loose Brackets or Bands

For professional advice, contact our office immediately. If a bracket or wire is loosened, the bracket or wire may need to be re-fitted urgently. A situation that needs slice a cord or wire or sliding a bracket off a wire at night or over the weekend may arise and you may use fingernail clippers that have been sterilized and washed in alcohol, if you need to cut a wire in case of emergency. Contact our office on the next business day so that we may schedule an appointment for you.

Wire Irritations

By moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab or eraser, it eases the discomfort caused by a wire on your braces or you can cover the end with little cotton or wax. You can cut the wire with alcohol-sterilized nail clippers or scissors. If you cannot resolve the wire irritation, call our office for an appointment.

 

Lost Separators

Although, most patients lose their separator while treatmentis being done, but do not worry about losing a separator. if your separator needs to be replaced, call our office as soon as possible.

 

Discomfort with Orthodontic Treatment

You will likely feel some discomfort, soreness or pain during the first week after your braces are in place and routine adjustments are complete you will adjust to your new braces.

You may take non-aspirin pain relievers or acetaminophen to reduce the soreness in your jaw. Or you may use a heating pad or warm wash cloth.
