Meet Dr. Carmella Montez Knoernschild, known to patients as Dr. K, one of the first female orthodontists in Arkansas, and a true pioneer in her field. With over three decades of experience, Dr. K combines clinical excellence with a passion for people, delivering exceptional results with a personal touch.

Dr. K earned her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Orthodontics from Boston University in 1990, where she was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. Recognized early in her career, she received the Arkansas State Dental Association’s “New Dentist of the Year” award.

A lifelong learner and leader, Dr. K became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2003 and served as a technical advisor for the Arkansas Association of Orthodontists’ educational video, A Smile That’s Good for Life. She currently holds active memberships in:

• The Southwestern Society of Orthodontists

• The American Association of Orthodontists

• The University of Arkansas Alumni Association

Dr. K is not only a top-tier clinician, but she is also a dedicated community advocate. She enthusiastically supports local youth through sponsorships of volleyball and other sports programs, contributes to the Junior Auxiliary Children’s Benefit Ball, and often serves as a motivational speaker for young audiences. She was recently invited to contribute a chapter about confidence to an upcoming children’s book. 

Outside of her professional life, Dr. K enjoys time with her husband, Doug, and their children, Isabella, L.T., and Ciarra. They live near Lamar in Johnson County and are active members of New Life Church.
